AJT’S EQUIPMENT REVIEW

Our view of Brigade’s Backeye® 360 AI

Our view of Brigade’s Backeye® 360 AI

AJT Installs fitted Brigade’s new human detection system to a B&W Plant Hire digger in its first installation on plant machinery. Here’s what we learned from fitting, configuring and testing it.

WHY WE WERE INTERESTED

More than a view around the machine

More than a view around the machine

Large diggers have areas the operator cannot easily see. Backeye® 360 AI brings together four cameras to create an in-cab view around the machine and human detection alerts for configured zones. B&W Plant Hire provided the digger for this first plant installation, with AJT carrying out the fitting and testing as a Brigade installation partner.

WHAT FITTING IT INVOLVED

AJT engineers mounted the four cameras, routed the wiring into the cab and fitted the monitor within the operator’s line of sight. They then configured the detection zones and carried out live checks of the camera image and alerts. Camera positions and system setup mattered because this equipment had to work on the actual machine, in its operating environment.

AJT’S ASSESSMENT

What stood out to us

What stood out to us

The combined camera image gives the operator a view around the digger.

Human detection alerts add another way to draw attention to someone entering a configured zone.

Careful installation and testing are essential to getting the intended view and alerts on each machine.

In our view, the value is in bringing visibility and alerts together, backed by an installation that is configured and checked properly. The technology supports the operator; it does not replace observation or safe working practices.

BRIGADE × AJT

New technology, installed in the real world

New technology, installed in the real world

Brigade developed the system. AJT’s role was to bring its installation experience to the first plant fitment, turning the equipment into a working installation on B&W Plant Hire’s digger. This project shows why the partnership between equipment manufacturer and installer matters.
